PERCIPITATION

2024-2025: In these, I wonder how the present earth (2024), and more specifically our landscape, will be transforming as a biotope into the new age. More specifically, what will happen to us as earthlings, if our human activities have disturbed the environment to the point of drastic and possibly irreversible climate change.

Only if the natural ecosystem is given sufficient healing time and allowed to run its course, without any further interference, will there be some form of recovery with the corresponding changes.

But what happens to us humans?

There is a real possibility that we, as a race, have alienated and even uprooted ourselves from the earth to such an extent that we can no longer sense this (no longer our) recreated world. A thought unbearable for a visual artist. The canvas would be empty.

I literally try to make a monotype print of the new reality, as if an abandoned image processor captured the ultimate landscape at the moment of the disappearance of the last human being. Admittedly, a moderately bold imagination as if we could receive this vision via a teletime journey from the future to now.

The title ‘PERCIPITATION’ is a contraction of the English terms “perception” and “precipitation”. The works refer to our visual assumption of how humans themselves fall victim to the “fallout” of toxic elements they have sent into the atmosphere for short-sighted profit.
