A statement in monotypes

Every single image has to conquer the emptiness surrounding it. Initially the image is helpless, it doesn’t seem to have a chance of getting a place in the immense vacuum. And yet, it pushes itself forward, starting in the imagination, moving further on in the process of creation, and finally ending in the concrete realization. The notion may be an image, a contrast or an after-image. Whatever it is, it always originates in the brain of its creator.
